Many Central and Eastern European nations are emerging from Communism. Along with the political transition also comes a media transition. This article examines the media transition in the newly formed nation of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Once part of Yugoslavia, Bosnia's media history includes wartime nationalism and propaganda that continue to shape both media development and public acceptance of media messages. This article also reports on the emergence of an independent media and then examines the public perceptions of these new, independent media in Bosnia.
